January At Whitby
Late December and through into January is becoming a popular time for a visit to Whitby. The New Year Period has a very special feel indeed, and every year seems to get better and better. The restaurants are always busy (book in advance), and the pubs hold a very special festive atmosphere. If the weather stays fine there are often people letting off fireworks all over town as well as many impromptu gatherings and celebrations on Tate Hill Beach. This time of year can also be excellent for witnessing winter storms or taking in some of the night skies in The North York Moors National Park which has now been awarded recognition for its dark sky status.
February At Whitby
February is also an exciting moth to visit Whitby. The chances of witnessing a winter storm on The Yorkshire Coast is just one of the special winter phenomenon that mother nature can throw at you. The North York Moors National Park also celebrates its dark skies status with its now annual Dark Skies Festival which often ties in with Half term holidays. Whitby Stem Punk Weekend is a new addition to the event calendar at Whitby. Keep a check on their website for information on the next event.
